The Household Budgetary Survey is a survey conducted among the families of these islands for the purpose of gathering information about day-to-day household expenditure. This information serves to identify those products and services which are utilized by our families, where prices must perforce be incorporated in an eventual new Retail Price Index.
Tha data compiled from this type of survey have various uses. One prime objective is utilizing the data as he basis of the Retail Price Index which will in due course replace the existing one. To this end, as already explained, a selection o fgoods and services ordinarily consumed by families is incorporated in the Retail Price Index. The prices of the items making up this basket of goods and services are monitored regularly upon the initiation of the new Index.
